OVER $530 MILLION TO REPAIR TEXAS BRIDGES

McAllen, TX - January 15, 2022 - (The Ponder News) -- On Friday, January 14, 2022, U.S. Representative Vincente Gonzalez (D-TX, 15th) announced that the U.S. Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) will disperse more than $537.1 million, allocated through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, to renovate and enhance bridges across the state of Texas over the next five years. This is largest bridge formula program in American history.

Under the formula, Texas is set to receive $107.4 million for Fiscal Year 2022 that will create good-paying jobs and provide much needed updates to bridges across the 15th District of Texas.

“South Texans know that bridges keep our community moving in more ways than one,” said Congressman Gonzalez. “Thanks to the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, many of the decrepit bridges within our community will be upgraded to ensure proper safety and reliability. I look forward to working with local leaders, the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), and the Federal Highway Administration to ensure that our roads and bridges keep up with the growth of our region.”

According to the latest data from FHWA, out of the 1,398 bridges in the 15th District of Texas, almost 50% are considered “fair” or “poor”. The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) will notice local apportionments of the $107.4 million at a later date.

Lawsuit Filed Against Real Estate Company for Firing Employee Who Asked to Work Remotely During 'Shelter-in-Place' Orders

Dallas, TX - April 25, 2020 - (The Ponder News) -- The former general counsel for Frisco, Texas-based real estate investment and development company Tekin & Associates has filed suit against her former employer, claiming wrongful dismissal in response to her request to work from home during the current COVID-19 outbreak.

As a resident of Dallas County subjected to the county's shelter-in-place orders designed to stem the transmission of the coronavirus, Amy Reggio had sought permission to work from home to avoid violating the county orders. Among her concerns was the risk of legal repercussions for driving to the company's Collin County office, which was not included among "essential" businesses under the Dallas County order.

Ms. Reggio's requests were systematically denied by company president Mark Tekin, culminating with Mr. Tekin firing her on March 27 "within minutes" of receiving an email she had sent him outlining her concerns, and reiterating her refusal to violate Dallas County law and her ability to work from her home, according to the lawsuit.

"We are in unprecedented times and the last concern any of us should have is that our employer will flatly refuse to concede that health concerns and complying with the law are viable reasons to work remotely," said Ms. Reggio's attorney Joshua Iacuone of the Dallas-based litigation law firm of Rogge Dunn Group PC.

"Not only did Mr. Tekin repeatedly refuse to consider Amy's requests, he proved to be increasingly belligerent in expressing his anger over the fact that she shared her concerns, refused to violate the law, and asked to work from home," added attorney Rogge Dunn, who also represents Ms. Reggio.

Rogge Dunn Group has built a well-deserved reputation for aggressive litigation, outstanding results and attentive client service. Led by founding partner Rogge Dunn, the firm is well-known for successfully trying high-profile business and employment disputes. This trial experience fosters innovative strategies to obtain effective settlements and minimize litigation risks for corporate and individual clients. Based in Dallas, the firm tries cases in state and federal courts in Texas and throughout the United States.

by: Chip Roy (R-TX, 21st)

Washington, D.C. - April 18, 2019 - (The Ponder News) -- Rep. Chip Roy (R-Texas) released the following statement Friday regarding the San Antonio City Council’s decision to reconsider banning Chick-fil-A from the San Antonio International Airport:

“I was pleased to see that San Antonio city councilman Greg Brockhouse is planning to motion to reconsider the city council’s previous decision to ban Chick-fil-A from the San Antonio International Airport.

As I wrote in a letter to members of the city council last month, targeting individuals, organizations, or corporations for carrying out their deeply-held religious beliefs in accord with our laws and consistent with many Americans’ similarly held religious beliefs is hardly making San Antonio a ‘champion of equality and inclusion.’

I hope the motion to reconsider results in a reversal of the council’s initial decision that I can only describe as discriminatory and bigoted.”

Washington, D.C. - December 14, 2017 - (The Ponder News) -- Governor Greg Abbott today announced a new round of grants totaling $20 million from the Texas Military Preparedness Commission’s (TMPC) Economic Adjustment Assistance Grant (DEAAG) program to various military installations in Texas. This program assists defense communities that may be positively or negatively impacted by a future Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) round. The grant money will be invested in infrastructure projects and other initiatives to increase the military value of installations in Texas, thereby strengthening them from a future BRAC round on our state’s installations.

"The strength of our military communities in Texas is unparalleled in part because of state support like the DEAAG program,” said Governor Abbott. “Not only are the 15 major military installations in Texas critical for the defense of our nation, they also add $136.6 billion to the state’s economy and support, directly and indirectly, more than 800,000 jobs in communities across this great state. That is why I will continue to work with the Texas Legislature and TMPC to ensure that our military installations continue to add unmatched value.”

The following entities will receive FY2018-2019 DEAAG disbursements:

  • Bell County - $3.1 million, Army Airfield security improvements
  • City of Corpus Christi – $3.3 million, Corpus Christi Army Depot security repairs and upgrades
  • City of Corpus Christi - $2.7 million, water infrastructure improvements at Naval Air Station Corpus Christi
  • Tom Green County - $4.5 million, infrastructure for mission expansion at Goodfellow Air Force Base
  • City of Kingsville - $144,000, purchase of property to prevent encroachment around Naval Air Station Kingsville
  • City of Abilene - $282,000, improvements to Dyess Air Force Base security upgrade
  • Port San Antonio - $5 million, Airfield Operations upgrades and improvements
  • City of Wichita Falls - $900,000, improvements to Sheppard Air Force Base security upgrade [partial funding]

The Governor previously announced over $30 million in grants last biennium awarded by TMPC.

The TMPC is part of the Governor’s Office and advises the Governor and the Legislature on defense and military issues and ways to strengthen the position of Texas military installations in preparation for a potential BRAC and other defense-related issues. The commission is composed of 13 members serving 6-year staggered terms, typically representing an installation in their community.

Pondering about the Sutherland Springs Mass Shooting...

Today at the Ponder, we've added some items to the web page. We hope you come and visit:

Maybe there is a lesson in all this for us, as Christians...
    Mike Lutz

There is a part of the Catholic mass called the General Intercession. It’s when prayers are requested for several special needs. After each subject, such as remember those who are sick, who have died, guidance for our church and political leader or peace in the Middle East, the congregation responds with “Lord hear our prayers” or something similar. Tragically I think most of us, me included, feel that once you pray everything is now in God’s hand. We walk out of church and go about blinded by the fact that we have prayed, and God alone will take care of everything. We fail to realize that God’s response to our prayers if for us to act. Maybe we pray for financial wealth. God may be telling us to get a better job, work a 2nd job or cut back on our expenditures. Money will not magically appear. We can’t sit home praying to win the lottery and expect God to buy the ticket for us. We must listen to what God has to say regarding our prayers. He does answer all of them and sometimes we may not like what he is telling us.

Yesterday, while attending mass at St. John the Baptist, during the General Intercession my response to a host of issues to include peace was “Lord hear our prayers” I had no idea that in a few hours a craze individual would enter a church in Sutherland, Texas and kill 26 people while they were also praying to God for peace on Earth. Christianity, thru out the world is under attack and all we’re doing is praying for peace. Why are Christians being murdered thru out the world? What are the perpetrators of these violent acts afraid of? Do they view us as easy targets, knowing we lack the will to fight back?

The Bible if full of passages telling us to love our enemy and to turn the other cheek when confronted with adversity. To be honest, I was trying to find a Bible passage to justify striking back at our enemies and I came upon Revelations 7-9, 7: Now war arose in heaven, Michael and his angels fighting against the dragon. And the dragon and his angels fought back, 8: but he was defeated, and there was no longer any place for them in heaven. 9: And the great dragon was thrown down, that ancient serpent, who is called the devil and Satan, the deceiver of the whole world—he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him.

I’m not saying God has spoken to me and we should act like our enemies, but we need not to coward up in a ball of fear. If God himself, one day said he had enough and he waged war against Satan and threw him out of heaven maybe we need to start speaking out and tell those who want to harm us, we also had enough.

Esty Statement on Mass Shooting in Sutherland Springs
    Elizabeth Esty (D-CT, 5th)

Congresswoman Elizabeth Esty (CT-5) has released the following statement in response to the mass shooting at the First Baptist Church in Sutherland Springs, Texas, the second mass shooting in the past five weeks. The killing, which happened just 35 days after a mass shooter fired on a country music concert in Las Vegas, killing 58 and wounding hundreds more, is the fifth-deadliest in modern American history:

“Our hearts are broken once again with the news from Texas tonight. It’s become increasingly clear that we have two choices: accept this senseless carnage as the new normal in our society, or stand as Americans against the force of the corporate gun lobby to prevent future tragedies. I’m ready to work with anyone, Republican or Democrat, who will help to end the epidemic of gun violence in this country. I hope that responsible gun owners throughout our country will join me to find a better way forward and keep families safe.”

Esty, who represents Newtown, Connecticut, is a vice chair of the House Gun Violence Prevention Task Force.

GOVERNOR BROWN AND TEXAS GOVERNOR ABBOTT ANNOUNCE FRIENDLY WORLD SERIES WAGER

    Source: California Governor's Office

Washington, D.C. - October 25, 2017 (The Ponder News) -- Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. has announced a friendly wager with Texas Governor Greg Abbott on the matchup between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Houston Astros in the 2017 World Series, which begins tonight.

In the spirit of bi-partisanship and in recognition of the resilience of the communities impacted by the recent wildfires in California and Hurricane Harvey in Texas, the governors are wagering wine, beer and food from businesses in regions impacted by these disasters and encouraging the public to see, taste and experience what their respective states have to offer.

“While we don’t expect to have to send any vino to Texas, we hope travelers from all over the world – yes, even the Lone Star State – will continue to visit California,” said Governor Brown.

Northern California’s wine region has more than 1,200 wineries, and only a handful were heavily damaged or destroyed. Vintners report that 90 percent of this year’s grapes were harvested before the fires and most tasting rooms have reopened.

“Texas and California are recovering from some of the worst natural disasters our states have ever encountered,” said Governor Abbott. “As we work to overcome these challenges, our two states are united by America’s pastime as we cheer on our home teams in the World Series. Go Astros!”

If the Astros win, Governor Brown will send Governor Abbott a selection of wine from wineries in the Sonoma, Napa and Mendocino regions impacted by recent wildfires. If the Dodgers win, Governor Abbott will send Governor Brown a six-pack of Houston-brewed beer and Texas BBQ.

The first game of the best-of-seven World Series will be played tonight at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles.

Governor Abbott Announces Day Of Prayer In Texas After Hurricane Harvey

    Source: Texas Governor Gregg Abbott

Austin, TX - September 1, 2017 (The Ponder News) -- Governor Greg Abbott issued a proclamation announcing September 3, 2017, as a Day of Prayer in Texas. In his proclamation, the Governor urged Texans of all faiths and religious traditions and backgrounds to offer prayers on that day for the safety of first responders, public safety officers, and military personnel, and for the healing of individuals, rebuilding of communities and the restoration of the entire region struck by this disaster.

"Throughout our history, Texans have been strengthened and lifted through prayer, and it is fitting that Texans join together in prayer in this time of crisis," said Governor Abbott. "Throughout this disaster, we have seen the power of Texans helping Texans, and I am hopeful this proclamation will bring people together once more. We have remained strong throughout this ordeal, and this Day of Prayer will make us even stronger together."

Governor Abbott announced the Day of Prayer at an event today at First Baptist church in Rockport, TX with Vice President Mike Pence and Reverend Franklin Graham.

TX Governor says Price Gouging Illegal

    Source: Texas Governor Gregg Abbott

Austin, TX - September 1, 2017 (The Ponder News) -- Governor Greg Abbott has issued a proclamation reaffirming Texas' firm stance against price-gouging across the entire state in the wake of Hurricane Harvey. Texas law strictly prohibits price-gouging and gives the Attorney General the authority to prosecute anyone exploiting a declared disaster by charging exorbitant amounts for food, fuel, or other necessities. In his proclamation, the Governor assures Texans that the Attorney General and other law enforcement officers will seek to identify and prosecute those who use price-gouging to take advantage of the public during this crisis.

"Price-gouging is unlawful throughout Texas, and I will work with Attorney General Ken Paxton to ensure all who engage in this reprehensible act are vigorously prosecuted," said Governor Abbott. "Taking advantage of victims of Hurricane Harvey is indefensible and Texas will punish these lawbreakers to the fullest extent of the law. We must be helping our fellow Texans in need, not seeking to exploit their struggles."

Houston' s Mayor Turner Tells Houston Residents to Stay Put

Washington, D.C. - August 31, 2017 (The Ponder News) -- On August 24, The Mayor of Houston put out this statement

“False forecasts and irresponsible rumors on social media are interfering with efforts by the city of Houston, and its government and news media partners, to provide accurate information to the public about the expected effects of Tropical Storm/Hurricane Harvey," Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner said today.

"All residents of Houston and surrounding areas should rely solely on proven information sources, including the National Weather Service and the city Office of Emergency Management, to decide how to prepare for the heavy rainfall expected here," the mayor added.

"No evacuation orders have been issued for the city and none is being considered.

"Please continue to monitor mainstream news sources for updates on the weather and act accordingly as an informed resident. Rumors are nothing new, but the widespread use of social media has needlessly frightened many people today.”

After searching Texas Governor's press releases, I have found that, although the Governor declared a state of disaster on the days before the Hurricane hit, he did not order Houston to evacuate. He did, however, urge all residents to follow the advice of their local authorities on the matter.

They knew it was coming. The mayor of Houston CHOSE to ignore it.

    Cruz Joins Trump in Texas

Washington, D.C. - August 31, 2017 (The Ponder News) -- U.S. Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas) on Tuesday joined President Donald Trump, Gov. Greg Abbott, Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick and Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas) to tour areas around Corpus Christi that were impacted by the landfall of Hurricane Harvey late Friday night. Later on Tuesday, Sen. Cruz joined President Trump, along with Gov. Abbott, Sen. Cornyn, and U.S. Reps. Roger Williams (R-Texas), Kevin Brady (R-Texas), and Michael McCaul (R-Texas) to receive a briefing on the Texas’ storm response and recovery efforts from the Texas Department of Public Safety. While the storm’s impacts continue to be felt throughout South Texas, including devastating, ongoing flooding throughout the Houston metropolitan area, Sen. Cruz expressed gratitude for the Trump administration’s assistance in helping Texans recover from the storm and stressed his commitment to doing everything possible to ensure federal, state, and local resources can be allocated effectively in the rebuilding effort.

“The devastation we’re dealing with in Texas is still ongoing,” said Sen. Cruz. “Today in Corpus Christi, we saw brave Texans, for whom the work to rebuild is only just beginning. They still need help and assistance and we’re committed to ensuring they get that help, and I was grateful for President Trump’s assurances today that the full extent of the federal government’s resources will be deployed to help our state. My hometown of Houston, in particular, has been underwater for four days as the flooding continues. And in the face of this massive storm, we’re also seeing incredible stories of heroism. We’re seeing first responders, firefighters, National Guardsmen, Coast Guardsmen, law enforcement, and ordinary citizens, stepping up and saving their neighbors and helping them out. It is a huge challenge and yet at the same time it is inspiring to see Texans coming together and helping other Texans. It is with that spirit in mind that my office continues to work day and night with the federal government, with the state government here in Austin, and with the local governments on the ground throughout the affected areas to ensure they are getting the resources and the help they need to save lives, recover from this storm, and rebuild. We are Texas Strong, and Texas will come back stronger than ever before.”

    Hurricane Harvey

First of all, let me say that I LOVE MY HOME STATE OF TEXAS. Here, in Texas, we pride ourselves on being able to take care of our own problems without interference from anyone -- the state, and the individuals in it. When we do need help, we know we can count on each other, because that's just the "Texas-friendly way".

The nation is awed by our resilient spirit in this time of crisis since Harvey wreaked havoc. They are amazed at the unity and cooperation we have shown, both with authorities, and with each other. I look at the victims surfacing in Harvey's wake, and I think, "Our state bird should be the Phoenix..."

You might knock us down, but we don't stay down long -- and we will never stop trying to get back up. Anything less is undignified. The Alamo proved that we don't go down without a fight, and we WILL rise from the ashes into something BIG!

Texas is my home. Texas is truly a whole other country.

    I LOVE TEXAS.

As a lifetime, born and raised member of the Republic of Texas, I'd like to express my heartfelt thank you to all of the banks, organizations, people and groups who have made donations to the Harvey Relief efforts and its victims. You have truly humbled me, and all of Texas in your generosity. From the first responders to the individuals who offered assistance, ya'll are truly great!

Hurricane Harvey struck the coast of Texas and caused flooding, triggering a federal disaster declaration covering 18 counties in Texas.

Below are some statements and information about this catastrophe from the newsmakers (Keep checking back for updates!):

The IRS Gives Tax Relief to Victims of Hurricane Harvey and Warns Against Scams

    House Representative John P. Sarbanes (D-MD, 3rd):

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the people of southeast Texas during this catastrophic storm. As this unprecedented downpour continues, we are hearing by the minute the inspiring stories of first responders and ordinary citizens alike who are risking their lives to help friends and neighbors in need. Marylanders are ready to step up in any way we can and, as a member of Congress, I will join my colleagues in authorizing critical aid, support services and other federal resources in order to help the people of Texas weather this harrowing storm and rebuild their communities.”

Houston combating Harvey looters with mandatory jail time

How to Help Disaster Surivivors in Texas

Statement from First Lady Melania Trump:

"The effects of Hurricane Harvey will be felt in Texas, Louisiana, and other parts of the country for many months and years to come. So far, 1.7 million people are under orders to evacuate their homes, and, as the floodwater in Houston rises, sadly, so will the number of evacuees.

I want to be able to offer my help and support in the most productive way possible, not through just words, but also action. What I found to be the most profound during the visit was not only the strength and resilience of the people of Texas, but the compassion and sense of community that has taken over the State. My thoughts and prayers continue to be with the people of Texas and Louisiana."

House Representative Alma Adams (D-NC, 12th):

“My thoughts and prayers are with those impacted by Hurricane Harvey,” said Congresswoman Adams. “The flooding that overwhelmed south Texas following Harvey’s landfall has impacted nearly 7 million Texans and caused millions in damages. During this difficult time we thank the many first responders, including the two Helo-Aquatic Rescue Teams traveling from North Carolina, who continue to prioritize the safety and rescue of others over their own wellbeing. I encourage all Texans to heed safety warnings and exercise caution as recovery from the storm continues.”

House Representative Joseph Crowley (D-NY, 14th):

“The devastation caused by Hurricane Harvey is a tragedy. My thoughts and prayers are with those families impacted, the first responders bravely putting themselves in danger, and the countless workers laboring to ensure shelters and resources are available for those in need.

“Congress must do whatever it takes to ensure Texas recovers. It is incumbent that lawmakers quickly pass an emergency relief bill so Texas, Louisiana, and all impacted communities have the resources needed to heal and rebuild. I encourage my Republican colleagues to join Democrats in sending a message to our fellow Americans that in the face of struggle and adversity, Congress stands with them. I know how impactful emergency aid can be, having watched New Yorkers rebuild after Sandy ravished our communities. The nation stood behind New York and New Jersey then. I will stand with Texas now.”

House Representative Eliot Engel (D-NY, 16th):

“The images coming out of Texas right now are devastating. My heart goes out to everyone down there who has been affected by this powerful storm. As we New Yorkers have seen in the nearly 5 years since Superstorm Sandy, recovery from a major natural disaster can be costly and take many years. In light of that, it’s important for all Americans to stand with our fellow citizens in Texas, and pledge to do all that we can to assist them in their time of great need. New Yorkers have big hearts and we will not allow the people of Texas to have any doubts about whether federal assistance will be provided. Congress can and should move quickly to provide aid to Texas.”

House Representative Al Green (D-TX, 9th):

“On Friday, Harris and Fort Bend counties began to deal with the effects of this severe hurricane which has brought unprecedented flooding and tornado damages. We are now three days into this weather event. First responders, emergency personnel, the National Guard, and the Coast Guard are working around the clock. We sincerely thank them for their tireless efforts.

“The dire situation posed by Hurricane Harvey continues to be life-threatening, and all residents of Harris County and Fort Bend County should continue to heed the warnings of local officials and emergency personnel.

“My staff and I will remain in close contact with local, state, and federal officials to keep everyone informed as we continue to endure this dangerous storm. I would like to personally thank all the public servants and medical professionals in advance who will be helping those in need in the days, weeks, and months to come.

“I am inspired by the people in our communities who have put themselves at risk to meet the needs of their neighbors. We are in this together. I ask that everyone please be safe.”

House Representative Gene Green (D-TX, 29th)

“Many of our communities in Houston and Harris County have been badly hit by Harvey’s historic rains. Harvey’s wrath has brought out the best in our city, seen through the tireless work of our local first responders and countless Houstonians who are helping neighbors during our time of need.

Earlier today, I was given assurances from federal and state officials that additional help is on its way, including more National Guard and urban rescue units, and FEMA Disaster Recovery Centers that will provide wrap-around recovery services in our community for victims once rescue operations have completed. Our local, state, and federal partners are committed to ensuring that our communities fully recover and are made whole.”

    House Representative Alcee L. Hastings (D-FL, 20th)

“President Trump declared that Americans are ‘weary of war without victory.’ Americans are weary of war, period. For more than 17 years, our country has waged a seemingly never-ending war in Afghanistan, at a cost of thousands of lives and hundreds of billions of dollars.

“The American people deserve to know what President Trump is asking of their sons and daughters. In that regard, the President’s address was unacceptably vague. By refusing to detail the number of troops he will deploy or the missions they will be tasked with, the President has positioned himself to drag out our nation’s longest military conflict indefinitely, in sharp contrast to his statements on the campaign trail.

“Further, in openly declaring the end of American-led democracy building, President Trump has doubled down on his administration’s abdication of leadership across the globe. As the Ranking Democratic Member of the U.S. Helsinki Commission, I have long championed democracy and human rights reforms in nations making the difficult transition towards free and open societies. In announcing this decision, President Trump has given authoritarian despots tacit approval to continue abusing and violating the rights of their citizens with impunity.

“This address underscores the importance of passing a new AUMF dictating a clear and coherent strategy for American military engagements in Afghanistan. Congress has the constitutional authority to lead this conversation, yet for too long has ceded this immense responsibility. Speaker Ryan must making passage of a new AUMF the first priority when the House of Representatives returns to session.”

House Representative Jody Hice (R-GA, 10th):

“The President was very deliberate in reaching his decision on Afghanistan and considered a host of different options for moving forward,” said Congressman Hice. “While his decision was not reached easily, it must be considered in the context of the previous policies which have failed. Most notably, when President Obama set an arbitrary timeline for withdrawing from Iraq, the coalitions we worked so hard to craft fell apart, setting the stage for ISIS and other terrorist organizations to fill the void. Simply put, we cannot repeat this legacy in Afghanistan.”

“I am pleased that President Trump articulated a strategy rooted in taking the fight directly to the terrorists, lifting engagement restrictions which have for so long tied the hands of our troops in theater, and applying pressure to our partners in Afghanistan and Pakistan to more aggressively combat terrorists operating within their borders,” Hice continued. “It is my hope that these policies will more effectively create the conditions necessary to prevent Afghanistan from becoming a staging ground for those who wish harm upon us. Now it is incumbent upon Congress to provide our brave men and women in uniform with the resources required to achieve that success.”

House Representative Bill Hulzinga (R-MI, 2nd):

"President Trump's decision to change the rules of engagement for our troops and allow them to take the fight to the enemy is the right choice. Conditions on the ground should determine how our military conducts operations, not politicians dealing with artificial political deadlines. Additionally, I am encouraged to hear President Trump discuss his plan to strengthen strategic partnerships in the region, while also decisively stating that nations who provide safe harbor for terrorists to launch attacks on our troops, allies, and citizens will no longer be ignored. In order to defeat terrorism, we must employ a strategy that utilizes our economic strength, embraces skilled diplomacy, and provides our men and women in uniform with the resources and flexibility necessary to complete their mission."

House Representative Alma Adams (D-NC, 12th)

“My thoughts and prayers are with those impacted by Hurricane Harvey,” said Congresswoman Adams. “The flooding that overwhelmed south Texas following Harvey’s landfall has impacted nearly 7 million Texans and caused millions in damages. During this difficult time we thank the many first responders, including the two Helo-Aquatic Rescue Teams traveling from North Carolina, who continue to prioritize the safety and rescue of others over their own wellbeing. I encourage all Texans to heed safety warnings and exercise caution as recovery from the storm continues.”
