Confederate monuments removed overnight in Baltimore

Gadsden Times

Confederate monuments in Baltimore were quietly removed and hauled away on trucks in darkness early Wednesday, days after a violent white nationalist rally in Virginia that was sparked by plans to take down a similar statue there.

Baltimore Mayor Catherine Pugh told The Baltimore Sun that crews began removing the city’s four Confederate monuments late Tuesday and finished around 5:30 a.m. Wednesday.

“It’s done,” Pugh told the newspaper. “They needed to come down. My concern is for the safety and security of our people. We moved as quickly as we could.”

Who gave the Mayor permission to remove what belonged to the citizens of Baltimore? Someone needs to sue him for vandalism.

Committee on Homeland Security to Hold Hearing on Domestic Terrorism in Wake of Charlottesville

Washington, D.C. - August 17, 2017 (The Ponder News) -- House Homeland Security Committee Chairman Michael McCaul (R-TX) released a letter in response to Ranking Member Bennie Thompson (D-MS) and the Democrat Members’ call for a hearing on the threat of domestic terrorism on the heels of the tragedy in Charlottesville, Virginia. McCaul announced that the Committee will hold a hearing on September 12th and has invited witnesses of the Department of Homeland Security, the FBI, and the National Counterterrorism Center.

Virginia Governor Calls for Removal of Confederate Monuments,

The Virginia Governor, Terry McAuliffe has called for the removal of all Confederate Monuments in the State of Virginia.

In a statement released on Wednesday, he said, “The discussion regarding whether to relocate Confederate statues is an important and legitimate conversation that should take place in each community that contains one. Monuments should serve as unifiers, to inspire us collectively and to venerate our greatest citizens. Unfortunately, the recent events in Charlottesville demonstrate that monuments celebrating the leadership of the Confederacy have become flashpoints for hatred, division and violence.

“As we attempt to heal and learn from the tragic events in Charlottesville, I encourage Virginia's localities and the General Assembly – which are vested with the legal authority – to take down these monuments and relocate them to museums or more appropriate settings. I hope we can all now agree that these symbols are a barrier to progress, inclusion and equality in Virginia and, while the decision may not be mine to make, I believe the path forward is clear.”

Next, we may see the removal of the Washington Monument, since Washington owned slaves.

Many other cities have decided to also remove their monuments that commemorate the Civil War.

Patriot Prayer Discriminated Against

Patriot Prayer, who has disavowed any association with White Supremacists is supposed to hold a rally in San Francisco on August 6, 2017. However, Dianne Feinstein has called for a denial of their permit, saying they "attract White Nationalists". In a statement earlier, Feinstein said, “According to the Southern Poverty Law Center, Patriot Prayer attracts white nationalists and other hate groups to its rallies with the intent to provoke unrest between those groups and counter-protesters,” Senator Feinstein wrote. “I am alarmed at the prospect that Crissy Field will be used as a venue for Patriot Prayer’s incitement, hate, and intimidation.”

She has written a letter to the National Park Service asking them to deny the permit.

The Southern Poverty Law Center is a bigotted Organization that has been known to call any organization or association "White Nationalist" or affiliate them with the KKK even if they have nothing to do with the KKK and have denounced such just because they don't think like Democrats.

Now that Donald Trump refuses to acknowledge that ONLY the KKK were responsible for Charlottesville, the SPLC and the Democrats will lump any organization that isn't leftist into the White Nationalist description. This is effective suppression of freedom of speech and it needs to be stopped and stood up to.

Groups like Patriot Prayer should send out a press release to announce their intentions and what they stand for to every media in the United States, Patriot and otherwise. It's the opinion of The Ponder News that it's time that Patriots, once again, create a media alliance to counter the lies of the leftist media. We did it before and it worked. It's time to do it again. The Ponder News is willing to help in any way possible.

If you are interested in such an alliance, we would like to hear from you from our Facebook Page at The Ponder

Antifa activists show up at Heather Heyer’s funeral with bats

Dennis Michael Lynch

A funeral was held Wednesday morning for Heather Heyer, the young woman who was killed in the vehicle attack in Charlottesville on Saturday.

Taylor Lorenz, a reporter from The Hill who was covering the funeral, posted a notice on Twitter stating that the “[a]nti-fascist activists have just shown up outside the theater with baseball bats and purple shields.”

Democratic Senator Decry's Trump for Condemning the Leftist Groups with the Supremacists, while this same senator's son is arrested for leftist rioting.

The Ponder just received information that Senator Tim Kaine's (D - VA) son got arrested last week rioting at a Trump Rally. Such a good father. Tell me, if he can't even raise his own son to respect America, what makes him fit to be a Senator? We can remember that issue next election.

Jacob Wohl, CEO of Montgomery Assets said that Trump has brought the stock market to an all-time high. Business is good with Trump in office. Those who wish to destroy our nation are screaming for Trump's impeachment. All this is in the wake of Trump's announcement to end his Manufacturing Council after eight CEO's quit in protest of Trump's refusal to place the blame on just one group of protesters.

Vice President Pence was supposed to stay in Argentina for a week, but he has decided to cut his trip short and come home, due to all of the Charlottesville backlash against Trump, who he is adamantly supporting.

While the Oregon governor signs a bill to require health insurers to cover abortion, Governor Abbott in Texas signed one that said health insurers are not allowed to cover abortions unless it is an emergency situation that threatens the life of the mother.

Daleiden Wins Legal Victory in University of Washington Fetal Tissue Investigation

Seattle, WA - August 16, 2017 (The Ponder News) -- On August 14, 2017, in Seattle, WA, Thomas More Society attorneys have won an appeal on behalf of undercover journalist David Daleiden, against a group of University of Washington research lab employees and abortion facility personnel. The government employees and the abortion personnel are seeking to force heavy redactions in public documents about their work procuring, processing, and transferring the organs and tissue of aborted human fetuses, in connection with the school’s taxpayer-funded Birth Defects Research Laboratory.

The Washington state Public Records Act requires full disclosure, but a lower court ordered the redactions, holding that the First Amendment required them. However, a panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit has now reversed that decision, unanimously holding that the District Court had not provided the facts and law sufficient to make a “clear showing” that the U.S. Constitution requires the heavy censoring of these public records. Thomas More Society Special Counsel Peter Breen, who argued the appeal, explained that the order, delivered August 14, 2017, sends the case back to the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington, in Seattle, which must now specify and justify its decision.

“This case began when our client requested public records from the University of Washington about its publicly funded research lab,” stated Breen. “Mr. Daleiden’s broad-ranging investigation into the trafficking of aborted fetal remains led him to look into the University of Washington’s fetal tissue research and acquisition practices. He asked that names and personal contact info be redacted from the records, but the abortion advocates and government employees pressed for full censorship, even of entity names, job titles, and departments within the university. Such heavy redactions render these public documents useless for investigative purposes.”

The employees, identifying themselves legally as Jane Does and John Does, sued in August 2016, claiming they “would likely face threats, harassment, and violence” if the records were disclosed, even with names and personal contact info redacted. The District Court entered its preliminary injunction requiring heavy redactions on November 15, 2016, and the case has been stayed since then, pending the result of Daleiden’s appeal.

Senior Circuit Court Judge A. Wallace Tashima, and Circuit Judges Jacqueline H. Nguyen and M. Margaret McKeown, heard the arguments and issued the unanimous order reversing the decision by the District Court. In particular, the appellate judges criticized the lower court for misapplying case law in granting a Motion for a Preliminary Injunction.

“The Court of Appeals, by reversing this decision and remanding this case back to District Court, has prevented a serious threat to the public’s right to know how their tax dollars are being spent,” added Breen.

Gutierrez calls everyone who voted for Trump a "white racist supremacist" after arrest

Washington, D.C. - August 16, 2017 (The Ponder News) -- Rep. Luis V. Gutierrez (D-IL) was among approximately 25 people arrested in front of the White House at a rally and march to defend DACA, the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program that began accepting applications five years ago. The rally, in Lafayette Park, turned into a march around the White House, and at the end, about 25 U.S. citizens and Legal Permanent Residents were arrested for failing to leave the sidewalk in front of the White House (the charge was failing to obey a lawful order by U.S. Park Police to move).

The Congressman and the others were handcuffed and led away, taken to a U.S. Park Police holding facility in Washington, processed and released about two hours later, after paying a $50 fine.

The Congressman was among the fiercest advocates for DACA and was arrested in front of the White House twice (in 2010 and 2011) urging then-President Barack Obama to protect immigrant youth from deportation, which he eventually did on June 15, 2012 in creating the DACA program which began accepting applications on August 15, 2012.

Thousands attended the rally today, which was organized by United We Dream and Casa of Maryland, and other immigration issues, like the possible end to Temporary Protective Status (TPS), were also discussed.

Rep. Gutierrez issued the following statement after his arrest, processing and release today.

While the President is coddling racist white supremacists because he is afraid to lose their votes, we took a stand today for justice. There is no doubt the American people stand with the young people who face deportation if Republicans kill DACA or fail to defend it in court. The people with DACA are 800,000 young men and women who are now doctors and lawyers and raising their own families. They are not criminals, they are assets to the United States and should not be driven out or driven underground. Another 300,000 or so people have been living and working here legally with TPS for decades and it now appears the President is actually contemplating making over 1 million documented immigrants into undocumented immigrants.

I am a citizen and know when I leave my house in the morning that I will return that night, but millions of immigrants leave for work or school each day unsure whether they will be arrested and detained. I gave up a few hours of my freedom to stand up for them. I think as the reality of mass deportation, of ending DACA or ending TPS, as that sinks in and becomes more palpable for people, we will see an escalation of non-violent protest across the country.

It is a shame and an embarrassment – es una vergüenza – the way this White House has turned on immigrants and fomented animosity towards immigrant families. I was at Navy Pier in Chicago on August 15, 2012 when immigrant youth and their families lined up to be the first to sign up for DACA. It was a moment of great hope as families helped fill out the paperwork knowing that only their children would actually benefit from DACA. I didn’t think I would be back in front of the White House facing arrest to defend DACA just five years later.

Rep. Gutiérrez is in his 13th term representing the Fourth District of Illinois. He is a Member of the Judiciary Committee and is the Chair of the Immigration Task Force of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus.

ICE Announces Unprecedented Prosecution of White Supremacists

Dallas, TX - August 16, 2017 (The Ponder News) -- Prosecutors in the Northern District of Texas have wrapped up what is believed to be the largest prosecution in the nation’s history of individuals connected to violent white supremacist gangs, announced John Parker, U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Texas.

This investigation was led by the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS-CID) Gang Unit and the Dallas Police Department Criminal Intelligence Unit with assistance from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI); the Garland (Texas) Police Department Neighborhood Police Officer Unit; the Collin County (Texas) Sheriff's Office; and the Texas police departments of Mesquite, Sherman, Denison and Sulphur Springs.

The 89th and last defendant to be sentenced in this case, Jeramy Weatherall, 29, of Dallas, Texas, was sentenced Thursday by U.S. District Judge Jane J. Boyle to 20 years in federal prison, following his guilty plea in March 2017 to one count of possession of methamphetamine with the intent to distribute.

Out of 91 defendants charged, 89 were convicted, one remains a fugitive and is believed to be in Mexico, and one died before trial began. Those convicted received a combined total of 1,070+ years in federal prison. Casey Rose, 36, of Mesquite, Texas, was sentenced to life in federal prison, following his conviction at trial in September 2015 on conspiracy, drug trafficking and firearm charges.

“The Aryan Brotherhood of Texas and the Aryan Circle have essentially been decimated in North Texas,” said U.S. Attorney Parker. “The outstanding collaborative work of the Texas Department of Public Safety and the Dallas Police Department helped ensure that each of the 89 defendants who were arrested have now been convicted and sentenced.”

“Strong law enforcement partnerships and the hard work of all those involved led to a successful investigation and the resulting prosecutions,” said Department of Public Safety Region 1 Commander Jack Webster. “We continue to work with our law enforcement partners to proactively protect the citizens of Texas in an ever-changing threat environment.”

“The Dallas Police Department is proud to have participated in this investigation that resulted in 89 convictions of dangerous gang members who terrorized communities with their criminal activity,” said Interim Dallas Police Chief David Pughes. “It is a great example of the success of local and Federal Law Enforcement working together with the United States Attorney to ensure that the worst career criminals are brought to justice.”

The defendants were members of the Aryan Brotherhood of Texas (ABT), the Aryan Circle, the “Irish Mob,” the “Dirty White Boys,” the “White Knights,” and the “Peckerwood” – all of which are violent white supremacist gangs. Each of these gangs is an organized crime group, but in recent years, the white supremacy ideology of each of these groups has taken a backseat to traditional criminal ventures, such as drug-dealing. The defendants in this case included several high-ranking members of these organizations.

Particularly noteworthy is that collectively, the defendants were held accountable for 956 kilograms (about 2,108 pounds) of methamphetamine, with a conservative street value of just under $10 million, as well as possessing and using 88 firearms and dangerous weapons.

Combined, the 89 defendants had been previously convicted of 736 crimes. Of the 736 previous convictions, 234 were drug-related offenses; 76 were violent offenses; 36 were gun offenses; 37 were burglaries; seven were sex or child abuse offenses; and one was a murder conviction. Fifteen of the defendants were deemed “career offenders” under the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines. Some defendants had as many as 25 prior convictions. And only six of the 89 had no prior convictions.

Assistant U.S. Attorney P. J. Meitl, Northern District of Texas, was in charge of these prosecutions.

Our Race-baiting Leaders Choosing Sides.

The host of Your Voice America, Bill Mitchell, voiced his frustration on Twitter about how objectionable the mainstream media is when it comes to anything Trump says.

He tweeted:
Trump: "I disavow and condemn all hate groups including white supremacists."
Media: "Trump refuses to condemn white supremacists!"

I happen to agree with him. How can anyone say that condemnation of ALL hate groups, INCLUDING white supremacists, is not condemning white supremacists? It's illogical, and only closed-minded bigotted people will follow what the media is saying blindly. I hope they know that.

Senator Thom Tillis (R - NC) decided to try to look good by jumping on the media-created bandwagon against ONLY white supremacists by saying, "When it comes to white supremacists & neo-nazis, there can be no equivocating: they’re propagators of hate and bigotry. Period." Does he think that by shutting down the KKK and such groups that he will end the bigotry? There is still the BLM to contend with, and if they aren't dealt with the same time that the KKK is dealt with, and in the same manner, the BLM will get a foothold and grow that much stronger and more terrorizing. I hope he knows that.

Senator Todd Young (R - IN) offered what he thought was a solution, by saying, "This is simple: we must condemn and marginalize white supremacist groups, not encourage and embolden them." Apparently he thinks that by not listening to people he doesn't like, he won't have to deal with their problems, which, in the long run, become all of our problems. Does he even need to keep his job? I hope he is also planning to "marginalize and condemn" the black hate groups also.

Senator James Lankford (R-OK) cut into the conversation by stating, "Our words must not create confusion. The supremacy of any race is abhorrent, unAmerican & should be condemned by everyone. Full stop." Now that is the most sensible thing I've heard just about anyone say.

Senator Tim Kaine (D - VA) showed his Democrat ignorance about what happened in Charlottesville by chiming in, "Charlottesville violence was fueled by one side: white supremacists spreading racism, intolerance & intimidation. Those are the facts." He obviously got his "facts" from somewhere else other than Charlottesville. It was fueled by BLM and ANTIFA throwing rocks, urine, feces and spraying innocence rally attendees with pepper spray. The car attack came later.

House Representative Kathleen Rice (D-NY, 4th) called Trump a racist while sticking up for Black Lives Matter by refusing to acknowledge their part in what happened. How hipocritical is that?

Senator Susan M. Collins (R - ME) made sense when she stated, "The violence in Charlottesville was caused by racists & hate groups. We must unite against them." I think she may have a future.

Senator Marco Rubio (R - FL) blamed the organizers of the events 100%, even though they did not have anything to do with the attacks. I am glad I didn't vote for him, and that he isn't my President.

The Democrats in the House and the Senate are all chanting "There is only one side!" By doing so, they are negating the fact that the left side exists, the one that they are on. It will reflect against them during the next election, I am sure.

I hope they know that we are all watching them trip over themselves now. Only those telling the truth will survive the next election.
